My Experience with the Solgaard Closet System: A Tale of Packing and Organizational Triumph

Updated: Sep 17, 2023

As promised, I'm back with an update on my Solgaard luggage and its closet system. I have some insights to share after putting it to the test on my recent trip.

Packing Challenges and Creative Solutions

When it came time to pack, I'll admit that I faced a few challenges. Having been a loyal user of packing cubes for years, switching to the closet system required a bit of a learning curve. As I began organizing my clothes, I missed the organization and compartmentalization that packing cubes offer. But, as I stated in my first article, I was determined to use the closet and give it my all to make it work.

After a couple of attempts and rearranging, I managed to utilize every nook and cranny of the suitcase. I strategically packed my clothes, utilizing the innovative features of the closet system. On the other side of the suitcase, I filled it with some of my nicer outfits, meticulously folded and stored in my trusty packing cubes. Yes, old habits die hard, and I couldn't let go of the cubes entirely!

Embracing the Closet System's Magic

Now, let's talk about the best part of the Solgaard closet system – using it in the destination itself. As I arrived at my accommodation, I couldn't wait to hang up my suitcase and see how this closet system truly worked. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Hanging up the closet system in the closet, I instantly had easy access to my clothes. It was much more convenient than rummaging through drawers or dealing with the slight chaos that packing cubes tend to create once you've arrived at your destination. The closet system allowed me to keep my clothes organized and wrinkle-free, providing ease and accessibility that I hadn't experienced before.

I Still Love Packing Cubes

While the closet system proved a game changer for keeping clothes organized in the destination, I must confess that I still can't let go of my beloved packing cubes entirely. There's something about their structured compartments and how they neatly hold smaller items. I relied on packing cubes for my more delicate and smaller items, ensuring they remained safe and secure throughout my journey.

Final Thoughts and Future Adventures

All in all, I can't say I'm 100% sold on the Solgaard closet system for packing, but when it comes to using it in the destination to keep clothes organized, I'm a true believer. The combination of the closet system and packing cubes has become my go-to strategy for efficient and functional travel.

The suitcases themselves are attractive and easy to handle. We got a lot of compliments on them. The only downside to the large check-in is it doesn't fit under a bed. Its design shape is like a chest, so it's too high. Being avid cruisers, this posed a slight challenge since we couldn't store the luggage under the bed, but it fit nicely in a corner.

As I continue to travel, I'm excited to explore new destinations, try different packing techniques, and share my experiences with you. Stay tuned for more travel tales, insider tips, and exciting updates. Together, let's conquer the world, one suitcase at a time!
